Specifications
The Héron is a robust standing cabinet featuring unexpected angles and sleek lines. It is inspired by the now-extinct confiturier, or jam cabinet. This furniture piece rose in popularity in France during the sugar boom in the XVIII century. At first limited to the aristocracy for storing rare and precious jams, the furniture style was soon democratized nationwide as each region created unique iterations that incorporated local woods and hyper-regional details for the storage of authentic specialties beyond jam, such as liquors or spices.
This modern interpretation stands 47 inches tall by 29.5 inches wide and 21.25 inches deep. The Héron boasts a completely asymmetrical design with everything from its door fronts to its legs ever-slightly askew. This geometric subtlety adds refined rebellion to its sturdy yet sleek frame. Each Héron is the result of over 500 hours of collaborative craftsmanship. The tear sheet is available upon request.
